I have taken some slight criticism for the quality of some of my translations of late, and as such I would like to say the following about my translation of 'Uguisubari-no-roka' in particular, and other translations on this page in general.
Perhaps my literal translation of 'something-or-other' wasn't entirely accurate, but it was based on an obscure translation method used by the Portuguese in the 1600's.
Although the translations are not always entirely accurate, their deliberate lack of symantic precision keeps them from ever being decisively wrong. Interestingly enough, 'something-or-other' is a common translation for a large number of Japanese words when this method is used.
What this method lacks in accuracy, however, it makes up for in flexiblity. I have yet to find a more convenient framework for on-the-fly translations. Until I do, I will continue to use this approach; please feel free to contact me with corrections.
