And wine, too.

I can’t even remember the last time I posted something not Ethan related…though I guess he was there at the time. No, there was once a time when I found food and wine worthy of comment. I felt I had to comment on this particular bottle, if only for posterity, as it was so transcendently wonderful; a bottle of 2004 Condrieu which we picked up in Ampuis last year.

This was one of a number of awkward bottles we picked up; awkward, because though they were all reasonable when we picked themĀ  up in France, when we checked on the prices upon our return, we realized we couldn’t possibly afford to drink them.

Though we realized that we were unworthy of drinking such lofty stuff, I also understood that it is also possible to save something for so long – waiting for the perfect time – that it spoils. And that is exactly the kind of thinking you need to cultivate in order to lull yourself into a state where you can comfortably drink a $75 bottle of wine on a Sunday afternoon.

Cheers.

Birds. And Bananas.

It is very amusing to see what emerges as the animating passions of a little person as they grow up. The things that have Ethan the most excited these days are bananas (based on number of requests) and birds (based on number of references).

Though he doesn’t talk much about them, he’s a big fan of cars, too.
